Chris moved with her family from Minnesota to Colorado Springs in 1958. She and her family picnicked in North Cheyenne Cañon Park in those early years and believed they were truly ‘in the mountains’. Back then picnicking next to the creek was a major attraction.
Chris is retired from 31 years as a teacher in School District 11 and came to be a board member after first volunteering as a group leader in the Park’s school age program Nature Detective. Chris has been on the Friends of Cheyenne Cañon board since 2009.
Chris enjoys hiking the Park trails, especially Columbine Trail from Starsmore Discovery Center to Helen Hunt Falls. Her favorite ‘spot’ in the Park is Grandview Point on the Columbine Trail where the view to the eastern plains is endless. Although Chris lives in the neighborhood of North Cheyenne Cañon Park she is committed to increasing community-wide knowledge and use of the park. Join her as a volunteer in the Park!
